BOOK REVIEW

BOOK: "You Wanna Go To Willard?"

AUTHOR: Linda M. Holbrook

ISBN-13: 978-0843961911

RATING: 4 stars

Overcoming life's obstacles is sometimes extremely difficult. Running into difficulties that have never been imagined, never mind not knowing where to go for the solutions because they are not taught in school or at home makes life a journey that one can either fail at or, no matter what, strive for greater heights.

The message that the author gets across very well in this story is that one should work to discover a way to get through life's unexpected challenges and don't give up no matter how bleak or uncertain the future - aim high and go for it.

The book is aimed toward a reading public of women in order to communicate that there is life after hardships and a woman can create her own future and succeed in the ways that she desires to live her life. It really is a good book for women to read because a woman will be able to relate to the circumstances that the main character finds herself in.

What impressed me most is that the character in the story makes it through some pretty big tangles. The author shows that a person can get through the difficult times with persistence, a little help from friends and by going for ones goals.

There are solutions in life to achieve what one sets out to do - the message does get across very well in this story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Linda M. Holbrook is a very refreshing author. She is frank, to the point and the book is a page turner. You want to go along with the main character on her adventure through life and you will find yourself making some extra time to read this book.

BOOK REVIEW

BOOK: The Chameleon Conspiracy

AUTHOR: Haggai Carmon

PUBLISHER: Dorchester Publishing Co., Inc.

ISBN-13: 978-0843961911

RATING: 4 stars

Like many people, I like reading a good "who dunnit" mystery story. When I first started the book, I wasn't sure that I was going to like this book - by the time I got into the second chapter, I was captivated! I didn't want to put the book down, I stayed up late just to read it and I put off production to get through this book.

This story takes you on a trip to many different countries, describes the different cultures so that you feel as if you are there and has many near escapes that will keep you turning the pages. In this story, the author gives you intrigue, unexpected plot twists and turns, and such a very real picture that you wonder at times if this is truly fact or is it really just fiction.

Dan Gorden, the main character, is very good at reviewing evidence and finding information that was overlooked by others. When he takes on the Chameleon Case, it had stumped international law enforcement for twenty years. His ability to zoom in on the points that had been missed by others leads him to more information which leads him into some very rough times. Seems he also has a knack for getting himself out of the tight binds he finds himself in - with the help of many friends along the way.

Does he live through his escapades? Does he help to solve the case? Well, you are going to have to read this wonderful page turning book to find out!

BOOK REVIEW

BOOK: Of Dreams and Nightmares

AUTHOR: Shirley A. Roe

PUBLISHER: Real Time Publishing

ISBN-13: 978-1413743374

RATING: 5 stars

Recently I read the second book (The Whittaker Family Reunion) in the series of books that Shirley A. Roe is writing about the Whittaker family in the 1800's. I couldn't put that book down! So, I felt very privileged to be able to read the first book in the series, titled Of Dreams and Nightmares.

As soon as this book arrived in the mail, I started reading. Again, I couldn't put the book down!

I believe that it is an amazing feat to engage a person that does not like the subject of history in a history book that depicts so well the era. History lessons are in abundance in this book and I learned things about the early settlers in America and England that I didn't know before.

This story is about Martha from her late teens as a privileged society girl in England that had it all, to terrors unimaginable - the worst of the worst that a female could go through, to maturing, self reliance and then to a winning family life.

The characters come alive in the story and you find yourself being totally engrossed with their lives. It's full of emotional impact, including love stories. One wonders how the author could fit so much action within this book of 250 pages!

It's a wonderful book. Pick it up and read it! I'm sure that you will also become a fan of Shirley A. Roe eagerly reading each book as it is published.

BOOK REVIEW

BOOK: Make Real Money on The Internet

AUTHOR: Stephen Pierce

PUBLISHER: Real Time Publishing

ISBN-13: 978-1-932448-18-4

RATING: 4 stars

This is a quick to read, nicely set up book with boxes to point out specific key information. There's "Hot Tips", "key Point" and "Steven Says" boxes that the reader to can easily refer to.

There are also website links and key points in bold lettering that make the information that is key easy to see.

When I started reading the book, my main thought was how can Stephen Pierce possibly add new information about a subject of making money on the internet that is so saturated both online and offline?

Well, he was able to give new information and new tips - which is pretty good considering the huge amount of sites, e-books and published books on the subject. Some information is the regular tried and true stuff, but it is presented with the reasons why it would work along with some very creative tips that are very useful.

Not only are the tips refreshing, Stephen Pierce also gives you free methods for marketing that will get traffic to the site or blog that you want to set up to make money.

It's a good read for both the novice and professional alike.

Letters Never Mailed

BOOK REVIEW

BOOK: Letters Never Mailed

AUTHOR: Susan Borgeson

PUBLISHER: Redeye Publishing International

ISBN-13: 978-1441483096

RATING: 3.5 stars

One wonders what Tom Waits actually did to the author after reading the poetry in this book.

Although it may not have been intended, some of the poems come across as witty if taken alone away from the content of the book. When taken altogether, you get a picture of a great sadness and loss that never did get handled.

It's a journey of persistence and determination with demands for love and admiration. Dreams dashed, life in turmoil but finding the strength to carry on.

I really do wish I knew exactly what Tom Waits did - was he the cause of the authors struggles? It's a mystery, but obviously one that had a great impact on Susan Borgeson's life for 32 years.

BOOK REVIEW

BOOK: The Whittaker Family Reunion

AUTHOR: Shirley A. Roe

PUBLISHER: Real Time Publishing

ISBN-13: 978-1-906806-51-4

RATING: 5 stars

If you are a person that didn't like studying history in school, like myself, you will be in for a surprise when you read this book. One would think that a book that was set in the time period of 1881 would be dry and boring however you will find that this is a page turning, highly entertaining and fun book to read in which you learn about the history of the time period.

I couldn't put this book down! I am now a fan of Shirley A. Roe and cannot wait to read more of her works. The characters come alive as does the time period.

The Whittaker family has been through so much already, put the terrible times behind them and are now flourishing. A troublesome, very spoiled girl and a person bent on vengeance wreck havoc for the family. And, then you are left with questions unanswered and wanting more.

You really do need to read this book!
